What is Intensive Personalised Support
Intensive personalised support(IPS)is a psychologically led service aiming to keep children and young people who are on the edge of care at home, with their families. IPS involves understanding the family and supporting them as a whole.
The service has been designed to support children , young people, families and adults to be an alternative to residential care/ support, to keep people at home with the families support and the communities in which they live.
The young person is at home, motivated to succeed, has an understanding of their anxieties and triggers, is in education, living more independently, booking holidays, and has a keen interest in photography.
Outcome of IPS Support
The team from ABL have been brilliant so far and she is so happy and grateful to have professionals helping who she believes really understand the young person and their family situation.

People Powered
We place people at the heart of our approach. We listen to their wider experiences and needs and work with them to co-design practical solutions to their problems.
Bold
If we do things the way they have always been done nothing will change. We are passionate about finding new approaches, employing new technologies and engaging with the latest sector research to help communities make long lasting, sustainable change.
Effective
Our success depends on our ability to transform the lives of the people and communities we work with and we pride ourselves on delivering results. Our work is evidence based and we are skilled at delivering on targets and monitoring and recording our impact for all our stakeholders.
Thoughtful
We believe in the value of reflection. By taking time to understand and reflect on 'the bigger picture', we ensure that as an organisation we keep on learning and that our staff and services keep growing and evolving.
Comprehensive Family-Centered Positive Behaviour Support: Integrating Systemic and Psychological Strategies for Holistic Child and Youth Development
A psychologically informed approach focuses on bespoke formulation, assessment and intervention of the CYP, taking into account the whole family in order to provide a holistic approach that can sustain behaviour change.
We use a systemic approach in order to help CYP and their families/carers make sense of the world around them, with a focus on relationships; this is a whole family approach rather than a sole focus on the individual.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred approach using the principles of applied behaviour analysis. PBS aims to increase skills and quality of life for individuals by teaching functionally equivalent, alternative ways of meeting needs, therefore reducing the need to engage in behaviours of concern such as self-harm, self-injurious behaviour or aggression. PBS works well in a multi-disciplinary framework which we are passionate about at ABL Health, in order to achieve the best outcomes for the people we work with.
We also have the following available as part of packages or at specific requests:
- Functional Behaviour assessments
- Delivery and co-ordination of function-based
- Behaviour support plans
- Practical support and advice
- Diagnostic Assessments
- Bespoke clinical assessment formulation and treatment plans that work with the whole family
